Taxonomy
Aburria is a monotypic genus in the family Cracidae. Proposals have been put forward to move the species in genus Pipile into this genus, so that Pipile would disappear; these proposals have so far been unsuccessful. What seems certain is that species in Pipile and Aburria are closely related.
