  • Rufous breast and belly
  • Dark eye mask
  • Long decurved bill

Distribution

Central and South America
Central America: eastern Honduras through Nicaragua and Costa Rica to western Panama
South America: western Colombia to north-western Ecuador

Taxonomy

This is generally considered a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Lowland rainforests. Visits garden feeders.

Diet

The diet includes nectar, insects and spiders.
