- Greyish-white face
- Black flight feathers and outer tail feathers

- Greyish-brown head, neck and breast
- Pale blue-grey underwings and belly
- Reddish-brown back
- Chestnut rump and tail
Distribution
Central and South America
Central America: South-eastern Mexico (San Luis Potosí), Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Trinidad
South America: Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, to southern Brazil, Paraguay, and northern Argentina.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Humid open woodland, forest edges, clearings and roadsides, montane forest to 1200 m.
Behaviour
Breeding
It builds a frail dish-shaped twiggy nest. The clutch consists of 2 white eggs.
Diet
The diet includes seeds and insects.
