Identification
30-36cm (11¾-14¼ in)
- Dark brown upperparts
- Reddish-cream breast with dark spots
- Well defined facial disc rim
- Blackish-brown eyes
- Pale bill
Distribution
Endemic to the Andaman Islands, India.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species.
It was formerly included in Barn Owl.
Habitat
They live in a variety of open habitats, from the coast, to open woodlands, fields and around human settlements.
Behaviour
A nocturnal hunter. Their diet is not well recorded, but probably similar to Barn Owl, such as rats and mice.
