Identification
35–36 cm (13¾-14¼)
- Green overall plumage
- Golden-yellow nape
- Red speculum
- Dark grey bill and feet
Distribution
Central America: found from southern Mexico south to northern Costa Rica.
Taxonomy
Subspecies
Clements recognizes these subspecies[1]:
- A. a. auropalliata:
- Pacific slope of southern Mexico (Oaxaca) south to northwestern Costa Rica
- A. a. caribaea:
- Bay Islands off Honduras (Isla Barbareta and Isla Guanaja)
- A. a. parvipes:
- Coastal north-eastern Honduras to north-eastern Nicaragua
Habitat
Dryish woodland, scrub and savannas.

Diet
