Schistocichla leucostigma

Identification

14.5 cm, Long bill, dusky legs, slate gray above, pale gray below, black wing coverts with 2 rows of small white dots, brown primaries. Female - gray head, brown back, dark brown wings with 3 rows of buff spots, buff throat, orange rufous underparts.

Distribution

Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana

Taxonomy

M. leucostigma has four subspecies: M. l. leucostigma, M. l. infuscatus, M. l. subplumbeus and M. l. intensus.

Humaita Antbird M. humaythae, Brownish-headed Antbird M. brunneiceps, Rufous-faced Antbird S. rufifacies, and Roraiman Antbird M. saturatus were included in M. leucostigma before 2006.[1][2]

Habitat

Moist lowland forests and montanes.
