Identification
15 cm (6 in): short and slightly rounded tail
- Golden yellow crown
- Dark brown head and throat
- Heavy streaks on breast
- Dark brown upperparts with fulvous streaks
- Buffy underparts with dark brown streaks
- Brownish-black, short, stout bill
Female
- Buffish throat breast and flanks with heavy brown streaks
- Heavily streaked crown
- Dark-brown ear-coverts
- Yellowish supercilium
- Yellow patch on the side of the neck
- White chin, upper throat and belly
- Pale flesh-coloured bill.
