Identification
8–9 cm
Similar Species
Male is similar to Black-breasted Puffleg but with a different gorget structure (flashing violet in the center, and bright green at the side).
Female is more similar to female Glowing Puffleg.
Distribution
South America: only known from Serranía del Pinche, south-west Colombia.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1] described in 2007. It is closely related to Black-breasted Puffleg and Glowing Puffleg.
Habitat
Cloud forest, around 2,600-2,900 m.
Behaviour
Diet
They feed at flowering shrubs.
