Identification

Distribution

Asia: found in eastern Sri Lanka to Afghanistan, southern Nepal, and Bangladesh.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1] which is sometimes placed in the genus Temenuchus.

Habitat

Dry forest, jungle and scrub. Also visits gardens.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet includes fruit and insects.

Breeding

It nests in holes and 3-4 eggs are laid.
