Where premium quality meets exceptional value. ZEISS Conquest HDX.

need feed back on ZEISS Terra ED Binoculars 10x32 (1 Viewer)

I have tried Terra's, and I was never that impressed with them. I really don't like the puny 6.1 degree FOV of the Terra 10x32. Furthermore, I would pay a little more and get the older Zeiss Conquest HD 10x32 which is much better optically having a 6.9 degree FOV, and it has much better build quality. For a little more initial investment, they will be more durable down the road. Allbinos has the Conquest HD ranked 8th place and the Terra ranked 61st place. Allbinos thinks a Bushnell Legend is better than a Terra.

In the backwoodpursuit review, the Terra is 6th place in the less than $500 group and the Conquest HD is 1st in the under $1000 group. That is quite a difference in optical performance for not a lot more money. There is no comparison between a Terra and a Conquest HD. Terra's are a very dim binocular with low transmission of only 85%, and they appear dull compared to even similarly priced binoculars. That is the first thing that struck me when I first tried a Terra 8x42 ED. If you want to stay under $500 an Athlon Cronus UHD, GPO Passion ED, Vortex Viper HD or Bushnell Forge are a better choice. They are ranked 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th on the backwoodpursuit review in the under $500 category.

I like the Terras, they do me for what I want. I have tried the Conquests and others but found the Terras suited me best, the most comfortable, yes they are lower down the optical scale but not enough to make them a bad option or lacking for me and my eyes and my "amateur" useage.
I haven't found any build quality problems I've got 10x25 that live in the car and unfortunately 8x32 and 10x42 so I can't comment for definite on the 10x32

You got rainguard and objective covers for your Terra 10x25?

Do you know if they will fit the Victory Pockets?

What diameter do they need?

Hello all, would like to know your experience with these binoculars.

thanks so much.
The often dismissed (by the optical cognoscenti...... Italian for bino snob) Terra's are great little bino's at an extremely good price. Many will say for a few pounds/dollars more you could get a much superior bino....of course you could and when you get that much superior bino someone will come along and say 'for a few pounds/dollars more you could get....and so it goes on. But how much is a few pounds/dollars more?

The Zeiss Terra is an entry level binocular with suprisingly good optics in a robust and well finished body. It is not top of the range, it is a very nice and affordable bino and whilst I have never owned the 10x32 I did own the 8x25 and enjoyed them very much.

Price comparison in the UK:

Terra 10x32. £359
Conquest HD 10x32. £629

If you have a spare £270 to add to your budget then the Conquest HD's are a superb bino and a step up in optical quality, build and robustness. But the Terra's are a no-nonsense pair of bino's at an excellent price.
