^ JEALOUS!!!!! Still haven't seen any this winter

All I managed were some Turnstones at Limbourne today, they let me climb right down the sea wall onto the rocky bit, got quite close.

Stuck indoors today, and look! it's so sunny outside!! and the rest of the week is supposed to be terrible, grr. Typical!

Moan over

Want to go away for a few days Birdwatching, can't decide where to go? Torn between Minsmere, Snettisham, Titchwell or Cley Marshes? any help please.

Snettisham, titchwell and cley for me.You can do tem all in a couple if dad or so.
Minsmere is more a day trip.

want to go away for 3 to 5 days on my own, missus is going to Birmingham to see the kids. need some me time!
Seen the waxwings, got some great shots of them (localy) just wondered if theres anything special out there now? ive never seen a spoon bill are they still around?
Would quite like to see a seasonal special if you know what i mean?
I could do all of them but would like to spend a few days at one as its easy to miss things when paying flying visits

Norfolk:

The Dipper is still at Thetford showing down to mere feet with Hawfinches being seen at nearby Lynford Arboretum at the paddocks there as well as Marsh Tits and Great White Egret today.

White-tailed Eagle has been lingering around the Great Bircham area

20+ Snow Buntings at Salthouse by beach car park, Black Brant on Wells Pitch and Putt again, Long-tailed Duck on Titchwell freshmarsh, 2 regular Golden Pheasants at Wolferton Triangle, Rough-legged Buzzard Framlingham Pigot over fields and at Haddiscoe Island, Great Northern Diver at Lowerstoftstill in Hamilton Dock (Suffolk).

No Spoonbills reported but check out the Norfolk thread for other information

The Snow Buntings And Golden Pheasants seem interesting and could come back via Framlingham for the Rough-legged Buzzard.
Thanks for that, there is just too much out there to see and its not often I go away this time of year.
I think I'll head towards Snettisham/Tichwell and see where I end up then, Thanks

For me,anyone just starting out in birding can't go wrong in Norfolk.
There is always usually stuff up there but you should if you do go,keep in contact with some bird news or speak to as many fellow birders as poss to keep yourself updated on any rarities that come in while you are up there.
There are plenty of geese up there and a seawatch can usually be quite productive, with some stuff very close in.
I always station myself in wells as its reasonably central and has some great pubs with lovely beer and food.If that doesn't really interest you there are little b & bs ,guest houses, hotels all over the place and this time of year they can be very reasonably priced.
If you like basic digs then there is a youth hostel in burnham deep dale, its quite remote but on the main coast road and has a couple if places where you can eat at night

I've Got a camper van https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/LzdtYW7zcC_Mrfpw0F7dnNMTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=directlink
it's got me over the artic circle so i laugh in the face of Norfolk ;-) its set up with 3x 80w solar panals so don't even need electric hook up. I don't even book up campsites when i'm away cos if there are none I can just pull up in a layby, but i do prefere the security of a campsite

Ha ha nice one.
There's a couple of lay bys up there.
I know a bloke who kipped in his at titchwell, not sure if you are really allowed but I think he knew them and they turned the other cheek.

I do normally find a campsite but have found them fully booked so had no choice, but love my camper, it has shower, toilet, cooker, and fridge/freezer
totally self contained and sat tv for whens its raining :) its got me to Nordkapp and right round Europe

Starting of at RSPB Lakenheath,
Then going to try for the Golden Pheasants at Wolferton Triangle + WTE near by,
Titchwell because its Titchwell,
Cley for Spoonbills,
Salthouse for Snow buntings,
Surlingham for White Starling (not holding out much hope)
Strumpshaw fen for Otters & cubs,
Then Thetford for Otters & Black Bellied Dippers
No saying I'll see any of them, but beats sitting in front of the TV.
Thanks for any input, gave me a rough direction to look at...
