Distribution
South America: found locally in ponds and streams of Amazon basin of Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil.

Habitat
Streams, pools and marshes in tropical forest.

Breeding
The nest is a flattish platform of twigs.
Diet
The diet includes small fish and flying insects.
