Identification
15.8 - 17.2 cm (6¼-6¾ in).
- Green plumage
- Bright turquoise lores and narrow eyelid rim
- Violet-blue malar band
- Yellowish chin, throat and upper breast
- Rich blue wing band
- Dull blue tail
Female similar to male but with less blue on lesser wing-coverts
Distribution
Endemic to the southwestern Philippines. Found on Palawan and the Calamian Group.
A restricted-range species. Still fairly common where suitable habitat remains.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species.
May form a superspecies with Bornean Leafbird, Jerdon's Leafbird and Blue-winged Leafbird.
Habitat
Moist lowland forest. Also seen in secondary forest.
Behaviour
Diet
Feeds on fruits and seeds.
Forages mostly alone but also joins mixed-species flocks.
Breeding
No information about breeding.
Movements
A resident species.
