- Long yellow supercilium
- Long rictal bristles
Distribution
South America: found in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru.
Taxonomy
Has been placed in genus Ochthoeca in the past.
Subspecies
There are 5 subspecies[1]:
- S. d. jesupi: No bars on the wings
- Santa Marta Mountains (north-eastern Colombia)
- S. d. rubellula:
- North-eastern Colombia (Sierra de Perijá) and north-western Venezuela (Zulia)
- S. d. tovarensis:
- Coastal cordillera of northern Venezuela (Aragua and Distrito Federal)
- S. d. diadema:
- Eastern Andes of Colombia and western Venezuela
- S. d. gratiosa:
Habitat
Moist evergreen montanes and woodlands.
Behaviour
Furtive.
Diet
Their diet consists almost entirely of insects, mostly small beetles.
