Identification
11cm. A dacnis with a heavier bill than other members of the genus.

Juveniles undescribed.
Distribution
Endemic to western and central Colombia.
A rare, very local and declining restricted-range species.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species1.
It has been placed in the genus Pseudodacnis
Habitat
Humid forest, second-growth borders, forest borders and scattered trees in highland clearing and shade trees over coffee.
Generally at 1350 to 2200m, locally lower on Pacific slope (down to 300m).
Behaviour
Feeds on fruit, takes also some arthropods.
Often seen singly, foraging high in outer foliage. Also follows mixed-species flocks.
One male in breeding condition was found in August. No other information about breeding.
Probably a resident species.
