Xolmis rubetra
Identification
Rusty crown continues into mantle which shows similar color. Strong white supercilium adjoins the crown and is limited below by the side of head with fine black streaks. Wings are brown with white wing-bar consisting of white tips of median coverts (when fresh -- may be worn off). Rump and upperwing coverts don't contrast strongly with back. Underside is white with heavy streaks especially at the breast.

Distribution
Western Argentina (Mendoza to Santa Cruz); winters to western Uruguay
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species.[1]
Salinas Monjita has sometimes been included in this species.
Habitat
Dry shrubland and pastureland, quite plastic in habitat choice, but avoids the habitat preferred by Salinas Monjita.
Behaviour
During migration is strongly social, forming large flocks. Mostly silent.
