Xolmis salinarum
Identification
16·5 cm (6½ in)
Side of head is mostly white, with indistinct black streaking. Crown is rusty and mantle is brown. In between are two white bands, one nuchal band and the other the continuations of the eyebrows meeting at the rear of the head.
Wings have entire lesser and median coverts white, creating a large white area on the folded wing.
Rump and uppertail coverts are also white as is the underside, with the exception of thin, indistinct stripes that sometimes form a weak breast-band.

Distribution
Arid salinas of north-western Argentina.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species.[1]
It has previously been considered a subspecies of Rusty-backed Monjita.
Habitat
Semi-open scrub growing in salt-impregnated soil on edges of open salt flats or salty water bodies.
Behaviour
Diet
There is very little known. They are believed to be insect eaters and are generally seen in pairs.
Breeding
There is currently no information available.
Movements
This species is non-migratory, showing only very limited movements around the year. Generally silent.
