Identification
Length 18-20 cm.
An all-black Boubou.
Distribution
Tropical Africa: Highland forests of the Albertine Rift, south-western Cameroon and adjacent Nigeria, and the island of Bioko in the Gulf of Guinea.
Some authors elevate subspecies holomelas as "Albertine Boubou" or "Albertine Sooty Boubou", L. holomelas.

In addition, some authors include subspecies L. p. holomelas: "Albertine Boubou" of the Albertine Rift Mountains (Eastern DRC, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi) in this species.
Habitat
Montane forests, forest edge and clearings in forest.
Behaviour
A "skulker"; keeps to undergrowth and thicket.
Vocalisation
A variety of calls, usually in duet.
