  • Sandy brown upperparts
  • White underparts and face
  • Black forecrown
  • Black stripe from eye to bill (browner in winter and may be quite faint)

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Agricultural fields, sage brush prairie, on dry short grass and bare ground.

Behaviour

Diet

Diet includes insects and other small arthropods.

Breeding

It nests on bare ground. The clutch consists of 3 off-white eggs with blackish spots; they are incubated for 28 to 31 days.
