Distribution
Formerly endemic to Maupiti, French Polynesia.
Became extinct shortly after its discovery in 1823, presumably due to the invasion of rats and other exotic species.
Taxonomy
This was a monotypic species.
Formerly considered conspecific with Tahiti Monarch.
