Identification

Distribution

South America breeding in two areas: first one in north-eastern Brazil, second in southern Brazil, Paraguay, southernmost Bolivia, and north-west Argentina. Migratory, where southern and eastern birds migrate north or west in winter; may reach as far north as Trinidad and Tobago.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].
Lesson's Seedeater was split from this species.
