Alternative name: Lilac-crowned Amazon

Amazona finschi

Identification

Pale purple crown and red forehead. Blue-black trim on flight feathers and large red patch on secondaries. Sexes are similar. Juvenile has dark brown eyes.


Distribution

Native to Mexico. Introduced populations in Florida, Texas, and California, USA. In California and Texas, they hybridize with the (also introduced) Red-crowned Parrot.
