Jelski's Black Tyrant - BirdForum Opus

Knipolegus signatus

Identification

Maled are almost uniform dull black with reddish-brown eye. Female similar to Plumbeous Black Tyrant but darker.

Distribution

Eastern slope of Andes of Peru (Cajamarca to Junín)

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.
Formerly treated conspecific with Plumbeous Black Tyrant under the name Andean Tyrant.

Habitat

Montane forest and woodland where mostly found in lower growth patches.

Behaviour

Rarely joins mixed species flocks
