Mexico (Pacific slope from Sonora to Guerrero)
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Subspecies sonoriensis is not generally recognised.
It was formerly placed in the genus Piculus.
Habitat
Humid forests and forest edges.
Behaviour
Diet
There is very little information available. They apparently include berries in their diet.
