Distribution

Formerly endemic to Eioa, Marquesas Islands.
Last seen 1977, extinct at the same time as Chestnut-breasted Mannikin was introduced on Eioa.

Taxonomy

This was a monotypic species.
Formerly considered conspecific with Iphis Monarch.
