Distribution
Costa Rica through Panama and Colombia to Ecuador. Caribbean side in northern half, switching over to Pacific side in central Panama.
Taxonomy
Subspecies
Two subspecies are recognized1:
- M. c. costaricensis:
- Caribbean lowlands of eastern Costa Rica and extreme western Panama
- M. c. cassinii:
Habitat
Forest edge and thickets in lowlands often near streams.
Behaviour
Often remain in dense cover.
