Identification

22.5cm

  • Grey-brown upperparts
  • Buff underparts barred brown
  • Black, brown-streaked crown and nape
  • Narrow tawny collar on hindneck
  • Grey-brown, buff spotted wing-coverts
  • White patch each side of lower throat

Distribution

South America: known from a 1917 specimen from French Guiana.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].
It was formerly included in the genus Caprimulgus.

Habitat

Forest.
