Genus: Platysteira
Description
An African genus comprising ten species of Wattle-eye. They are small, stocky, active flycatchers with short tails. Four species have red wattles, while the wattles are blue, green, or violet in the remaining species.
Taxonomy
Platysteira is one of about six genera in the family Platysteiridae. This genus includes species formerly placed in genus Dyaphorophyia by some authorities (and some still recommend that); those are the species with wattles differing from red.
