Genus: Picoides

Description

Woodpeckers, mainly from North America and South America, one species in Europe and Asia.

Taxonomy

Picoides is a genus in the Family Picidae. We follow the 59 AOS supplement in moving six species from here into 'Dryobates. Gill and Donsker place these six species in the genus Leuconotopicus.
