Distribution
South America: found in eastern Paraguay to south-eastern Brazil and north-eastern Argentina.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Lower levels of humid Atlantic forest. Found in the forest interior, forest edges, cultivated land adjacent to forest.
Behaviour
Diet
The diet consists almost entirely of bamboo seeds; supplemented by insects when seeds are unavailable.
