Similar Species
Similar to Gray-cowled Wood Rail but with brown mantle.
Distribution
Local in western Colombia to south-western Ecuador and extreme northern Peru.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Lowland swamp-like woodlands, mangroves, river edges to 1,300m.
Behaviour
Little known, this is a quite secretive bird.
