Identification
10 cm, male and female similar with slightly darker underside in male
- Dark brown plumage, greener on back and rump
- White patch on neck sides, just above shoulder
- Tail slightly forked
- Long straight dark bill
- Dark iris
Distribution
South America: found in the west slope of Andes of western Colombia to western Ecuador.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Subtropical montane forest.
Behaviour
Mostly feeding inside forests in low to medium height, it frequently feeds by hovering in front of tubular flowers
