Identification

37-40 cm

  • Dark grey
  • Pinkish breast
  • White band on grey tail

Distribution

Western Canary Islands (La Palma, Gomera, El Hierro and Tenerife).

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Some authorities consider this to be a subspecies of Trocaz Pigeon[2].

Habitat

Breeds in mountain laurel forests and ravines.

Behaviour

Breeding

It bulds a stick nest in a tree; a single egg is laid.
