Identification

46 cm.

  • Black and chestnut back, flanks and closed wings
  • Bare pink cheek patch
  • Lemon-yellow tail with blackish central tail-feathers
  • Long, black, conical bill, tipped orange-red

Distribution

South America: found in North-eastern Colombia (northern Chocó)

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1]

Habitat

Moist lowland forests.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet includes fruit and insects.
