Alternative Name: Cryptic Antthrush

Distribution

South America: found only in south east Brazil (Minas Gerais and Esp¡rito Santo to north-eastern Santa Catarina).

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species^[1].D A split has taken place: Schwartz's Antthrush and Such's Antthrush used to be part of Rufous-tailed Antthrush.

The last sentence in the paragraph above gives a simplified version of the history. Such's Antthrush was really proven to be a separate population and species by Willis 1992. He then determined that the species he had in hand was close enough to a description made many years earlier based on lost specimens collected by George Such. Much more in SACC proposal 152²
