Overview

A small group of islands off the north coast of Brittany which hold the best seabird colonies in France.

Birds

Northern Gannet and Atlantic Puffin have their southernmost colonies here and nest alongside Northern Fulmar, Manx Shearwater and European Storm-petrel, Shag, Kittiwake and other gulls, Sandwich Tern, Razorbill and Common Guillemot. Other species usually seen here are Northern Raven, Northern Wheatear and Rock Pipit, Common Shelduck breed and several species of wader occur on passage or in winter.

Site Information

Landing is not allowed on the best of the islands but the birds can be seen from boats and local fishermen will take visitors on three-hour trips around the islands. Perros-Guirec is the nearest town and boat trips can be arranged here with the boats leaving from nearby Trestraou beach. Grey Seals are usually to be seen around the islands.
