Identification

Body is mottled brown on top and pale underneath. Dark stripe through the eye. The wings are pointed and narrow, and yellow back stripes are visible in flight.

Distribution

Breeds from coastal Europe (Atlantic coast - UK and Scandinavia; Mediterranean coast) to Siberia; winters to tropical Africa, India and Southeast Asia.

Taxonomy
