Taxonomy
In the past this species was lumped in Great Grey Shrike.
Pallidirostris from the steppes of C Asia is sometimes considered a full species called Steppe Grey Shrike. This split is not yet accepted by most of the big world lists. However, the three species are now separated in v2.2 of the IOC list.

There are 12 subspecies recognized[1].

Habitat
Dry open country.
Behaviour
Diet
The diet includes large insects, small birds, rodents and lizards. Hunting behaviour is similar to other shrikes, using prominent perches and impaling corpses on thorns and barbed wire spikes.
