Evros Delta.

Overview

Thrace, northeast Greece, 14 kilometers east of Alexandoupoli. Lagoons, reedbeds, canals, crop fields, wet meadows, sand dunes etc. Fabulous birdlife. See www.birdwing.eu for recent information about birds here and related links.

Notable Species

Many raptors especially spring and autumn, White-tailed Eagle, Lesser Spotted Eagle, Greater Spotted Eagle, Short-toed Eagle, Booted Eagle and occasional Steppe Eagle. Eurasian Hobby, Peregrine Falcon, Red-footed Falcon and Saker Falcon in autumn.

Pelicans, thousands of waders and waterfowl, terns, gulls and lots of passerines etc. everywhere.
