Distribution

Widely distributed from Europe to Asia, Arabia and India.

Previously in genus Hirundo.
Monotypic.

Habitat

Mountains.

Behaviour

The diet includes insects which are hawked aerially.

Its nest is built from mud and is placed under overhanging cliffs; 3-5 eggs are laid.
