Identification

25cm

  • Black above
  • Yellow buff underparts with black streaks
  • Red vent
  • Large white scapular patches
  • White barred flight feathers and tail sides
  • Yellow sides to the neck
  • White cheeks
  • Long black moustachial stripe
  • Male has red nape patch
  • Long bill

Distribution

Asia: found in the Himalayas of Nepal to Szechwan and northern Myanmar, Bhutan, south-western China, north-eastern India, and Vietnam.
