Identification
Distribution
Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela.
Taxonomy
Five subspecies recognized:
- W. p. poecilinotus in southern Venezuela, the Guianas and northeast Brazil
- W. p. duidae in eastern Colombia, southern Venezuela and northwest Brazil
- W. p. lepidonota in southeast Colombia, eastern Ecuador and northeast Peru
- W. p. griseiventris in southeast Peru, northern Bolivia and southwest Amazonian Brazil
- W. p. gutturalis in northeast Peru and western Amazonian Brazil
Was formerly included in Scale-backed Antbird together with Xingu Scale-backed Antbird.
Formerly placed in genus Hylophylax.
Habitat
Moist lowland forests.
Behaviour
Follows army ant swarms, but generally not found near the center of the swarm
They build cup shaped nests.
