Mexico to Costa Rica.
Taxonomy
Subspecies recognized in this species include canivetii, salvini, and osberti. This species as well as Cozumel and Golden-crowned Emeralds used to be known as the Fork-tailed Emerald complex. In the version used here, Salvin's Emerald C. salvini is still included, but some authorities has that as a fourth full species.
