Central America: Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama
South America: Colombia, Ecuador
Taxonomy
There are 3 subspecies:
- X. l. lachrymosus:
- X. l. eximius:
- Pacific slope of south-western Costa Rica and adjacent western Panama
- X. l. alarum:
- Tropical northern Colombia (Sinú, Cauca and Magdalena valleys)
Habitat
Lowland rainforests and mangrove forests.
