Alternative name: Buru Oriole

Oriolus bouroensis


23–32 cm (9-12½ in)

Similar Species

Virtually identical to Buru Friarbird.


South-east Asia: found on Buru Islands, Indonesia.


Formerly considered conspecific with Tanimbar Oriole under "Black-eared Oriole" (wide sense; O. bouroensis).


Clements regards this as a monotypic species [1].


Deciduous monsoon and mangrove forests. Lowland and montane forests, also secondary woodland.



They forage alone, in pairs and often mixing with Buru Friarbirds. There is little other information available.
