- White head, neck and upper breast
- Black back and upperwing gradually becoming lighter towards a grey rump
- Black tail with broad grey terminal band
- Grey underparts

Taxonomy
Black-banded Fruit Dove was formerly included as a subspecies.

- Lesser Sundas (Pantar and Alor)
- P. c. cinctus:
- Lesser Sundas (Timor, Wetar and Romang)

- Lesser Sundas (Leti, Moa, Luang, Sermata and Teun)
- P. c. ottonis:
- Lesser Sundas (Damar, Babar and Nila)
Habitat
Rainforest and wooded areas.
Behaviour
Diet
Little has been recorded, but they most likely eat fruit and berries.
