Distribution

South America: found in coastal northern Colombia and Venezuela (La Tortuga Island and Margarita Island).

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species^[1].

Three subspecies (occidentalis, cervina and richmondi) are generally considered invalid^[2].

Habitat

Dry forests and shrubland, scrubby desert and mangrove forests.
