Male
- Black head nape and breast
- Greyish back with darker streaking
- Brownish upper wings and tail
Distribution
South America: found in eastern Brazil (southern Minas Gerais, Esp¡rito Santo and Rio de Janeiro).
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Roadside vegetation, shrubby and grassing clearings. Occurs at heights up to 800m.
Behaviour
Diet
They cling to grass stems to eat the seeds, which forms the great part of their diet.
They forage in small flocks, often with Yellow-bellied Seedeater.
