Distribution
Found only on the main Hawaiian Islands. Still numerous at higher elevations on Hawai'i and Maui. Small remnant populations on Kaua'i and O'ahu may vanish in the near future.

This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Ohia and mamame forests.

Diet
Diet includes nectar from ōhia trees.
