Distribution

Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, and Venezuela.

Taxonomy

Five subspecies are recognized1: rosea, schistacea, eximia, beebei, and harberti. All five subspecies seems to be isolated from the others, the greatest distance being for schistacea from Mexico

Habitat

Forests.

Behaviour

Groundliving bird likely to be heard shuffling leaf-litter around.
